Working With Oakland WIB

The Oakland Workforce Investment Board (WIB) is a dynamic alliance of the business sector, government, education, organized labor and community leaders, committed to improving the economic environment of our city by:

  • Enabling businesses to thrive through a qualified workforce and tax incentives.
  • Increasing employment and advancement opportunities for job seekers and workers.
  • Promoting youth development through comprehensive year-round employment and training services.

Appointed by the Mayor, the WIB provides oversight and policy direction for federally funded employment and training programs and services for OaklandÕs adults and youth. Our vision is to create a fully integrated workforce development system that focuses on results. By developing and delivering quality services that meet the needs of both employers and job seekers, the WIB is making Oakland a great place for work.

The WIBÕs 45 members represent public agencies, private corporations, organized labor, community groups, and educational organizations. More than half come from the private sector. The WIB serves job seekers and employers through a network of six One-Stop Career Centers, which represent the resources and expertise of more than 150 public and private partners.
